Another Excellent Event – the 49th Southampton Lunch

Friday, 15 October, 2010

Almost a record – 48 reserved and 46 turned up. The Woodlands Hotel provided once again an excellent setting and a much appreciated meal, served with consideration and good humour. The conviviality of the event was palpable and the two first-timers fitted in as if they were veterans.

The true veteran of this annual lunch was inevitably John Crotty who expressed a touchingly modest protest at being honoured for having now attended 39 Southampton lunches.

As usual no speeches, as such, but some updates by Cyril Trust on the situation of certain absent members who are in poor health.

The next lunch will be a real landmark when we reach 50 lunches and, presumably, John Crotty reaches 40 attendances, unless he is too embarrassed to come! We may have to promise to ignore him in order to get him to attend.
