Old Farnhamians' Association

Southampton Lunch becomes the Autumn Lunch

5th October, 2016

The annual October lunch in the Southampton area lasted for many years. It started officially in 1962, but it could be argued that the very first one was two years earlier when 3 old boys met by chance in Southampton for a meal. It lasted for over 50 years, till 2015, and then the association decided the distance for most of the members attending was a bit far and there were not many local old boys for whom Southampton was convenient.

So, an experiment…let’s try doing it in Farnham. Now there is an idea!

Many years ago the annual dinner was held in The Bush Hotel, but that hotel struggled to cater for numbers above 70, but an Autumn Lunch that replaced the annual Southampton lunch might work.

And it did! The Bush Hotel served an excellent meal in its main dining room to 38 old boys, a good increase on the attendance last year at Southampton.
