Farnham College Awards ceremony for 2008 struck a new
note. It was marked by the presence of Principal Clive Cooke (unable to attend
last year) and former Farnham College student Rachel Morris, a gold medallist at
the Beijing
Paralympics and the guest of honour who
presented the awards. Rachel gave a stirring speech telling the audience about
her problems once she lost her legs as a teenager and how she fought to produce
such a stunning performance in 2008 in China. She now has London 2012 in
her sights.
Clive Cooke thanked all the sponsors for their support and said that it
was good to see many of these at the event. Even with the changes at the
college, the 400 Trust awards scheme remains a popular feature and provides
some welcome assistance to Farnham students.
